An exceptional body of thought-provoking work that often explores the themes of identity, perception, female empowerment and society. Judith Lava is an Austrian visual artist based in Kärnten. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, she studied under Michelangelo Pistoletto and collaborated for years with Pipilotti Rist. Her diverse practice spans video art, installation, sculpture, animation and photography. Lava's works have been exhibited at renowned venues and festivals worldwide, including the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival, REELpoetry Festival Houston, Poetry Film Festival Vienna, Manifest Destiny Art Barcelona, Galleria Huuto Helsinki and Galerija ZDSLU Lubiljana. In 2025, she is holding a solo exhibition at the Austrian Cultural Forum Bratislava. She has also lectured at Alpen-Adria-University on feminist art.

For me, there is nothing better than a visitor who leaves my exhibition feeling emotionally empowered and with a smile on their face.
